What is consignment selling?

Consignment selling is where we sell your unwanted items on your behalf. In exchange for a % fee we take the hard-work out of selling by managing the photography, sales, customer enquiries and all packing and posting for you. We also absorb all website / transaction fee’s including refunds, postage and packing costs which means no extra costs incurred for you.

How does the process work?

Step 1: Show us what you interesting in selling!

You will be requested to submit photos of the items you would like to sell with some details on the brand and condition and if it is a good fit for Retold and matches our selling criteria we will be in touch. Please see below for further details.

Step 2: Condition

We request that all items must be clean and in good working condition before it arrives with us. If further cleaning / repairs are required once we receive your item, we can help and advise.

Step 3: Listing prices

We will work closely with you to agree a selling price of each item. We base our pricing on the current resale market value and we will always fully research this to ensure we get you the best and fairest price. If for any reason a price needs to be adjusted once the item has been listed, we will liaise with you to agree new price before actioning price change.

Step 4: Getting items to us

We are happy for you to post to us or if you are based within the central / Greater London area and have over 10 items to sell we can also arrange collection.

Step 5: Selling time

We will do our best to sell your items as quickly as possible however please be advised we cannot guarantee how long it will take for an item to sell. Various factors can effect this such a price, seasonality etc. and we will discuss any opportunities to improve saleability with you if such situations arise.

Step 6: Getting paid

Once items are sold payments are transferred to your nominated PayPal after the sale has cleared our 14 day refund window.

If you would like to donate a % of your sales to a charity of your choice, please do let us know and we will be happy to do this on your behalf. 

What we are looking for:

  • Preloved designer brands - we love the likes of Jil Sander, Margaret Howell, Joseph, Nicole Farhi,

  • Premium vintage (all eras but we have a particular love for the 70’s thru to 90s and from Italian and French designers - YSL, Chanel, Armani, Calvin Klein, Moschino

  • Designer handbags, accessories and scarves.

  • Sustainable brands and small independent labels.

  • Apologies we are not currently accepting high street brands.
